Our Strategies
The MIT Waste Alliance aims to change the perception from waste as end-of-life to waste as a resource through academic and industrial engagement. Systems-thinking is imperative to our mission. To that end, we strive to:
- Increase awareness about the state of sustainable materials/product design, waste management and reduction, and materials recovery.
- Connect students, alumni, researchers, entrepreneurs, industrial practitioners, and policy makers in order to share knowledge and best practices beyond the bounds of MIT.
- Support innovative research and entrepreneurial solutions in waste, materials management, and design for responsible end-of-life management.

- Hold public research events, journal club meetings, lecture series, and competitions to encourage innovative solutions based on state of the art research and implementation thereof
